Air China Cargo now operating as joint venture

Air China Cargo wants to improve its global competitive position with know how of its shareholder Cathay Pacific Airways

 

A new era has begun for Air China Cargo. The enterprise has commenced operation as a joint venture of Air China and Cathay Pacific Airways (Hong Kong). Air China is holding 51 per cent of the share capital; Cathay Pacific Airways 25 per cent. The aim of the modified shareholder structure is to position Air China Cargo as a globally acting provider of scheduled air cargo services, that is able to compete internationally and has its principal operating base in China.

Air China Cargo will soon have a fleet of 12 Boeing 747-400s freighters. Shanghai was chosen as the international hub of the airline. The heart of China’s air freight industry is beating in this economic metropolis. In addition Air China’s extensive domestic and international passenger network provides “belly space” for cargo.
