Alpine World Ski Championships spurrs partnership of Atomic and DPD

DPD Austria transports more than 240,000 parcel shipments on behalf of the Austrian ski brand Atomic

Yesterday’s start of the 42th Alpine World Ski Championships in Schladming, Styria, will presumably have positive effects on the cooperation of the ski brand Atomic and the parcel service DPD Austria. “Since yesterday the world of ski is spellbound by this major sports event for two weeks. As in addition to the traditional favourites – Austria, Switzerland and the US – also French, Italian, German and Scandinavian candidates for medals will start, great masses will join the excitement with the athletes“, estimates DPD’s managing director Rainer Schwarz. “This might boost enthusiasm for skiing and hence the demand for skiing equipment on an international scale.“

As to shipping ski, ski boots, ski bindings etc., the world’s biggest ski brand Atomic has been trusting in the competence of DPD Austria for more than two decades. The Salzburg-based manufacturer of sports equipment is shipping about 45,000 parcels per year to about 780 retailer addresses in Austria with the private parcel service, as well as 197,000 parcels in the international market.

DPD Austria has been acting on behalf of Atomic since 1989. Thus the Salzburg-based enterprise is one of the most loyal customers of the B2B parcel service company. “More than 20 years of partnership between two long-term experts – one on the ski slope and one for shipping – is something one can be proud of“, says Rainer Schwarz. The closeness of the DPD depot in Flachau and the Atomic headquarters in Altenmarkt im Pongau is a benefit for the cooperation from his point of view. Atomic is currently expecting the “Marcel Hirscher Icon Series“ to have a positive influence on their business.
