ARS Altmann constructs „Solar Carport“ in Italy

New location with branch connection and capacity for 10,500 vehicles of ARS Altmann group in Piadena

ARS Altmann group, a European market leader in the automotive logistics industry, establishes a new site in Italy. Together with Phoenix Solar AG, an internationally renonwned photovoltaic system company, the company will construct a „Solar Carport“ in Piadena for distribution of new cars. On more than 200,000 sq. m. the location provides capacity for 10,500 vehicles. There is a good connection to the road and rail network.

The „Solar Carport“ has a storage capacity for 6,000 new cars and is roofed with one of the world’s largest photovoltaic systems. The facility can produce clean power for almost 1,900 households per year with a total performance of about 6.4 million kilowatt hours, and protects the vehicles against weather influences such as rain, hail and pollution. The site is served by rail transports of TX Logistik AG. The use of covered car trains saves any transport protection means for the vehicles.

ARS Altmann group with its headquarters in Wolnzach in Germany was established in 1975 and counts today among the European market leaders in the automotive logistics industry as a medium sized company with numerous cooperation and joint venture partners. With 720 employees and 19 logistics centres in Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Italy and Russia on a total area of more than 3 million m² they generated a turnover at about EUR 200 million in 2009.
