BLG Group attends to new VW major contract logistics order

2010 results at BLG Logistics Group exceeds expectations despite lack of imports at the car terminal Bremerhaven

The contract logistics division of BLG Logistics Group (Bremen) was able to seal a major new deal from the automotive industry. The enterprise supplies the worldwide VW factories with car parts since November 2010. The annual volume amounts to around 400,000 cubic metres. This deal created 160 new jobs.

Overall, 2010 went much better for BLG Logistics Group, but the crisis has not yet been overcome at the ports. “After the crisis is not the same as before the crisis. The crisis not only has economic effects, but also causes structural changes. The seaports will not be able to reach the handling volume of 2008 until 2012 at the earliest", says BLG CEO Detthold Aden.

At the Bremen state press conference the manager held out a prospect for pre-tax earnings of around EUR 30 million (2009: EUR 16.5 million) for the corporate group. According to his statement the development in the container business division was very good, and contract logistics went better than planned, but the automobile division was still in a difficult position due to a lack of imports.
