Augustin Freight urges intermodal transport

Transport logistics group Augustin Network plans to launch triangular transport on the rail

The Austrian transport logistics group Augustin Network wants to use the intermodal rail/road transport stronger than previously. CEO Christian Fürstaller emphasised in his speech on the 26th Logistik-Dialog of the Bundesvereinigung Logistik Österreich that he is interested in launching triangular transports on the relations between Austria, Italy and Germany soon. More specific, the entrepreneur wants to establish block trains with regular departures, “which will be fully controlled by the specialists of our Augustin Freight business unit“.

“Investments at the amount of EUR 4 to 5 millions would be necessary to enter into the intoermodal transport segment“, Mr. Fürstaller calculated. The Head of Augustin Network has in mind the purchase of around 150 craneable semi-trailers, which he wants to use for the “triangular traffic”.

Augustin Network has around 1,000 employees at 13 locations in six European countries. Being a specialist for part and full load transportations on the road, as well as for services in the field of transport management with a geographical focus on Western Europe, the company has lately generated an annual turnover of EUR 140 million. Their own fleet comprises around 600 motorised units.
