Austrian ceases more liner services

Ankara, Nizhniy Novgorod and Nuremberg to be taken out of Austrian-flight schedule

As a response to the crisis within the global airline industry and the associated fall in passenger and airfreight volumes, the Austrian Airlines Group stops operating more regular services. As per March 1, 2009 the destinations Ankara and Nuremberg will be taken off the flight schedule. The Russian industrial city of Nizhny Novgorod will no longer be served as from March 2. In addition the Management announced targeted reductions in frequencies across the route network in line with seasonally weak periods or individual flight days.

The result of all measures will be a production cutback of 5 percent. Including the steps already taken, capacity for 2009 will be streamlined by a total of 10 percent compared to the previous year.
