Reorganisation of DB Schenker’s structures in Hungary

DB Schenker offers now transport and logistics services from one source in Hungary as well

With a new structure the globally acting transport and logistics group DB Schenker wants to consolidate and expand its position in the Hungarian market. Having just finalized the acquisition of the shares of the joint ventures Masped-Schenker Kft. (air/sea freight, customs) and Masped-Railog Kft. (rail logistics) that were so far held by Masped AG, the activities of five companies will be merged into Schenker Kft., Based in Budapest. The fusion of the enterprises will be effective from 1 January 2011. Árpád Vásárhelyi (Manager land transport, contract logistics and sales), László Káldor (Manager air freight, sea freight, rail transport) and Ferenc Péter Kovács (Manager finances, controlling, administration, fair and project logistics) fort he new Management Board.

Being a full service provider of integrated transport and logistics services, Schenker Kft. counts among the market leaders of actually all segments in Hungary. The new company is to start with almost 290 employees at five big locations with 34,000 m² warehouse and throughput area. Based on the figures of 2009 the enterprise represents an annual turnover of EUR 81 million. In the segment of land transport 219,000 consignments with a total weight of 150,000 tons were moved last year. Masped -Schenker accounted for 15,000 TEU sea freight and 10,000 tons o fair freight. Masped-Railog as a rail forwarding company moved 65,000 wagons with 2.5 million tons of goods.
