Austria’s Danube ports reports losses in throughput

 
Attenuated throughput on the waterway in 2008 at Austrian Danube ports

In 2008 the ports and berths at the Austrian part of the Danube had to face losses in cargo handling on the waterway. According to the Statistics Austria the handled volume showed a year-on-year decrease of 6.4 per cent to 8.9 million tons.

At the ports in Linz 5.37 million tons of goods were handled on the waterway in the reporting period. At Vienna’s ports waterway throughput amounted to 1.46 million tons. At the port of Enns Statistics Austria recorded a waterway goods throughput of 538.716 tons, while 500,471 tons were recorded at the Mierka Donauhafen Krems. The other ports and berths handled a total volume of 1.02 million tons of goods in 2008.
