Johann Hödlmayr deceased on 18 November 2011 at the age of 83 years. Thus Austria’s logistics industry looses an important pioneer. Johann Hödlmayr developed a small company, which was started in 1954 and transported animals and gravel, into an international vehicle logistics enterprise.

In 1954 company founder Johann Hödlmayr, son of farmers in Upper Austria, started cattle and gravel transports. Even at that time he had counted on double deck transporters. With the own bonded warehouse in Schwertberg Johann Hödlmayr became one of Europe’s biggest vehicle carriers in 1967. After the fall of the Iron Curtain Johann Hödlmayr and his son Johannes established companies in eastern Europe. In 1990 they acquired the Belgian vehicle logistician HN and they established a subsidiary in Hungary. Today Hödlmayr Hungaria is the central hub in traffic between eastern and western Europe. Hödlmayr operates branches in 13 countries.
