Belgian Hödlmayr subsidiary celebrates jubilee

Acquisition of HN International 20 years ago marked Hödlmayr Grup’s start into a new era

These days the Belgian HN Autotransport enterprise (Tongeren) is looking back on 20 years of affiliation to the corporate group Hödlmayr International AG. With the acquisition in the Benelux region the vehicle logistician from Schwertberg, Upper Austria, takes an important step towards internationalisation. “At that time we have been searching for a strong location in western Europe. The strategic situation, important contacts to car producers and the good organisation were decisive for purchasing the Belgian enterprise“, Johannes Hödlmayr, CEO of the Hödlmayr International AG management board (HIAG), says in a review.

The name HN Autoransport is derived from the longstanding affiliation to the Antwerp port logistics group Hessenatie-Neptunus (HN). Today the enterprise is according to their own account market leader in the field of vehicle logistics in the Benelux States. With 180 employees and more than 80 special truck transporters they move around 300,000 units per year. The company headquarters in Tongeren offer 164,000 sq.m. with capacities for the storage of 6,500 vehicles.

HIAG and its subsidiaries have more than 1,200 employees on the payroll in 13 countries. The group has a total storage capacity of 1.4 million square metres. For vehicle transportations 500 special transporters and block train concepts are available. Last year about 750,000 vehicles have been delivered. Being a releasing agent (a service provider who is also in charge of the complete quality control of the utility vehicles) the enterprise cares for around 670,000 new cars per year. At last an annual turnover of around EUR 150 million was reported.
