Black Sea Service EBX to be suspended

Grand Alliance and TNWA about to cease Black Sea Service

As a response to the economic crisis the shipping groups Grand Alliance (Hapag-Lloyd, NYK Line, MISC Berhad, OOCL) and TNWA The New World Alliance (APL, Hyundai Merchant Marine, Mitsui OSK Lines) will suspend the jointly operated EBX-Service (East-Mediterranean/Black Sea Express) between Asia and Black Sea ports. The decision was announced on February 3. The last westbound trip will start in Shanghai on February 12.

EBX-Service had been started up as a joint product of the shipping lines of the Grand Alliance and the members of TNWA in mid-June 2008. The service was operated with 8 vessels departing in a weekly rhythm and offering a capacity of 5,000 TEU each.
