“Bosporus-Sprinter“ locomotive joins Hödlmayr’s fleet

Logistics and transport company Hödlmayr counts on “Go Green“ more than ever:

Hödlmayr International based in Schwertberg, Upper Austria, confirms once again its “Go Green” philosophy. Since recently a locomotive of the “Bosporus-Sprinter“-type is operating in the corporate design of the logistics and transport service provider who is rich in tradition. The operator Wiener Lokalbahnen provides this vehicle that links Romania, Hungary, Germany, Belgium and Austria.

Hödlmayr has been counting on cargo transport on the railway for years to complement usual road transportation. In the frame of the environmentally friendly train concepts trains transport vehicles from plants to distribution centres on behalf of clients from the automotive industry. From there fine distribution to retailers is effected with modern car carriers.

Three weekly train pairs are currently operated between the Dacia plant in Pitesti/Romania and the Hödlmayr company HN Autotransport in Tongeren/Belgium, 2,000 kilometres away. This will reduce CO2 emissions by 11,400 tons in the next three years. Thanks to environmental protection projects in Hödlmayr International has reduced its CO2 emissions by about 15,000 tons per year.
