bremenports shuts down its office in Vienna

Erwin Mittermaier retires and is to keep the function of bremenports’ representative in Austria as a freelancer for another year

After 61 years of operation, the Viennese representative office of the port management company bremenports GmbH & Co. KG is closing its gates in Austria. Holger Banik, Managing Director of the bremenports group, announced the shutdown of the office at the ‘logistics talk’ in Vienna, effective 30 June 2012. At the same time Erwin Mittermaier will retire – he had been a bremenports representative in Austria since 2004.

In the coming twelve months Erwin Mittermaier will continue his function of the past eight years as a freelancer. During this period they will look out for a suitable successor, as Holger Banik emphasised when talking to the Austrian transport magazine Österreichische Verkehrszeitung. Erwin Mittermaier can still be reached under his usual e-mail address and mobile phone number. However, the conventional telephone of the Viennese office is to be shut down as well effective 30 June 2012.

For the ports in Bremen and Bremerhaven, Austria has been among the most important markets in the Central European hinterland for decades. Last year cargo with point of departure or destination in Austria amounted to about 1.4 million tonnes; 125,000 TEU thereof handled in container traffic.
