Logistics association BVL presents Award for Sustainable Supply Chain Management 2013 at the 29th Logistics Dialogue in Vienna

In the frame of the 29th Logistics Dialogue, a two days-congress in Vienna opened on 14 March, the logistics association BVL presented the 2nd Award for Sustainable Supply Chain Management. The winner of the annually awarded prize by the sister organisations BVL Austria and BVL Germany is Tchibo GmbH. Marc-Stephan Heinsen, Director Supply Chain Management & Logistics, and Fabian Flügge, Head of network controlling, took over the award in Vienna.

The trade chain is prized for its responsible acting-project started in 2006, in which logistics for coffee and commodities plays a major role.

The transport strategy concentrates on maritime and river shipping as well as railway transport. As to transport, transhipment and storage, Tchibo counts on avoiding transportations, modal split and C02-reporting. The company was able to reduce the CO2-emissions from logistics by 40 per cent since 2006.
