Cargo volumes increase with Salzburger Lokalbahn

Cargo segment of the Salzburger Lokalbahn cut out a good figure with transportations on third-party networks in 2012

2012 has been a positive year for the cargo transport segment of the railway company Salzburger Lokalbahn. Compared with 2011 total transport volume has risen 9.5 per cent to 2.46 million tonnes. The driver of this development was the transport performance on third-party networks, which were up 11.8 per cent to 2.375 million tonnes. At the same time volume transported on the traditional route from Salzburg via Lamprechtshausen to Trimmelkam and return dropped from 120,807 tonnes in 2011 to 86,000 tonnes in 2012.

Salzburger Lokalbahn (SLB) names itself an important provider of cargo transport in the region and beyond Salzburg, particularly in southern Germany and on the Tauern-route towards Italy and Slovenia. The management aims to continuously attract new customers with elaborated solutions. Reputable companies such as Kaindl, SAB Siggerwiesen or DB Schenker are using this option to shift transport from road to rail.
