Rudolph Logistik opens new logistics facility in Bavaria

Rudolph Logistik group supplies its customer BMW from the new logistics centre in Wallersdorf within in 125 minutes

On 9 April the Rudolph Logistik group inaugurated its new logistics facility in Wallersdorf, Lower Bavaria. The company handles logistics projects of BMW AG on a 32,600 m² area. The locations provides also a second warehouse with 8,500 m². The new buildings will help to create about 120 jobs by the end of this year. With an investment totalling EUR 20 million for the next decade the logistics service provider counts on long-term local commitment.

Since the start of the year the logistics centre has been filling up with car body parts for just-in-time-supply of the BMW production plant located 25 km away in Dingolfing. The lead time, meaning the period from order to delivery of the parts to the plant, is exactly 125 minutes. The empty boxes are returned to the empties collection area Wallersdorf. About 80 trucks are deployed therefore every day.

In the coming weeks a 7,000 m² high-bay and block storage will be built for sequential production supply of BMW. Eight part families, including generators or panels, will be sequenced from this logistics facility. The parts will be put into a box according to the sequence of the car bodies on the assembly line. For instance there are 20 different part variations for head airbags alone, which can be built into different vehicle series.

From mid-May a European state-of-the-art industrial cleaning facility will be built at the logistics centre. Car body panels such as car tops or hoods for Rolls-Royce have to be cleaned before they can be assembled. In addition to parts made from steel or aluminium also small load carriers, meaning plastic boxes for small parts such as bolts and nuts, must be cleaned as well and integrated into the production cycle again. The new facility worth EUR 2 million replaces the existing belt washing plant in Dingolfing.

The 10th location in Bavaria extends the logistics area operated by the group to 290,000 m² or by about on third of the total area operated by Rudolph Logistik. They are mainly handling complex logistics projects for the automotive industry and their suppliers. The enterprise is also operating in the segment of consumer goods logistics and forwarding services in this region.
