Certified environmental standards with Logwin Air + Ocean Austria

Environmental certificate for 20 Logwin locations in Germany and Austria; new service for shipments and customer-related carbon footprint

The logistics service provider Logwin has had all 20 of its air and sea freight locations in Germany and Austria certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001. The ISO standard is an internationally recognised seal of approval for environmental management systems. Certification partner SVG Zertifizierungsdienst GmbH presented the certificate documents on April 25. The environmental certificate is valid for three years.

The audit completed by Logwin shows how it has firmly anchored sustainable environmental and climate protection in all its processes and services. Customers thus benefit from transport and logistics services which are efficient and highly environmentally friendly. Logwin is steadily expanding its environmental management system in order to continuously improve environmental protection – additional national companies will also have their locations certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001.

Logwin carefully prepared for ISO certification in Germany and Austria. The company started analysing its processes, facilities, vehicles and equipment with regard to environmental relevance back in the summer of 2013. The environmental audit covers consumption data for power, water, waste water, fuel and paper together with the amounts of paper and other waste disposed and pollutants emitted. Logwin used the data as the basis for developing targets and defining measures aimed at achieving these targets. For example, the installation of LED lighting reduces electricity consumption, electronic forwarding documents save paper and intensive driver training cuts fuel consumption. All the measures introduced conserve precious resources and are at the same time economically beneficial.

Logwin is currently also improving its customer-related carbon footprint for shipments, allowing customers to determine CO2 emissions for each shipment from consignor to consignee. In the future it will be possible to retrieve this data automatically at the push of a button. The system thus provides customers with maximum transparency with regard to climate and environmental compatibility in a quick and simple manner.

The Logwin Air + Ocean business segment has 123 own locations on six continents. Together with longstanding partners the global network covers more than 200 branches. About 2,200 employees implement international air and sea friehgt transport, as well as customised and complex logistics solutions.
