Gebrüder Weiss Serbia expands its site in Dobanovci/Belgrade

Gebrüder Weiss Serbia celebrates its 10th anniversary; Terminal in Dobanovci/Belgrade to be extended by an area of 9,000 m² additional storage area

These days Gebrüder Weiss Serbia enters the second decade of its business activity. The branch in Dobanovci/Belgrade is to be extended within the course of this year, announces the company in a press release. The branch offers the complete service portfolio of the international transport and logistics company. Its workforce of over 150 employees generated turnover of approximately EUR 18 million in 2013.

Since the foundation of a national organisation in 2004, the Gebrüder Weiss network in Serbia has developed positively. At the transport and logistics conference TIL 2014 in Belgrade, Gebrüder Weiss has been honoured with the “Brand Leader Award” for the best market position for international transports in the South-East region. The company convinced the jury with its high service quality, optimal logistics solutions and state-of-the-art technology.

“From a present-day perspective, the last four years have been the most successful since we first set up in Serbia,” says Erich Schafer, Regional Manager South at Gebrüder Weiss. With great confidence in the local market, ideal logistics facilities and motivated employees, Gebrüder Weiss Serbia had succeeded in making the leap to become a top logistics provider.

The growth path will also be continued in 2014. The existing complex of the Dobanovci/Belgrade branch is to be extended by an area of 9,000 m² for logistics as well as roughly 1,300 m² of office and circulation space. “The expansion will ensure that we are well equipped to continue handling the growing number of customer orders with our usual high quality in the future,” says Dragan Simovic, Country Manager of Gebrüder Weiss in Serbia.

Gebrüder Weiss took the first step into Serbia in 2004 by opening a branch in Belgrade. Shortly after, groupage freight services were introduced in the Europe-wide network of the transport and logistics provider. With the takeover of freight forwarder Eurocargo in 2009, new logistics facilities in Dobanovci, a modern long-distance transport fleet as well as roughly 100 employees were added to Gebrüder Weiss Serbia.
