China Southern Airlines opens two air cargo routes

According to Xinhua News Agency, China Southern Airlines will open two new air cargo routes to Amsterdam this month.

One of the new routes is from Shanghai to Amsterdam with stopover at Vienna. The other is from Guangzhou to Amsterdam.

China Southern Airlines recently took the delivery of two Boeing 777-200 freighters, increasing the size of its freighter fleet to six, which includes two Boeing 747-400 freighters and four Boeing 777-200 freighters.

The airline will take delivery of another Boeing 777-200 freighter in late-August, becoming China’s largest Boeing 777F operator.

In June, China Southern’s cargo and mail transportation volumes increased by 35.6% year-on-year to 84,680 metric tons. For the first half of 2010, cargo and mail volumes increased by 37.7% year-on-year to 512,020 tonnes.
