Collapse in freight volumes at IATA-airlines
The international freight volumes handled by the air companies is descending: The current traffic figures of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for December and the year 2008 show a collapse in global freight traffic. In December 2008 the international cargo volume dropped 22.6 per cent compared to the previous year. In 2008 IATA registered a 4%-decline in international freight volume. “The 22.6%-drop in the global cargo segment was unpredictable and is quite shocking.
