Dachser delivered 2000th fire truck for Rosenbauer

Rosenbauer’s fire trucks arrive at airports throughout the world thanks to project logistics of Dachser Austria Air & Sea

Rosenbauer supplies customised fire trucks from Austria to airports throughout the world, relying on sophisticated project logistics of Dachser Austria Air & Sea. Since 2008 a total of 2.000 fire trucks have been delivered to their destinations.

The project business of individual and custom made shipments between 6 and 32 tonnes must be planned from scratch, which requires about two to four weeks „pre-planning time“ for booking the appropriate ship capacity, obtaining special transport permission or flat-bed trucks or drivers. The shipments are handled ex Bremerhaven, Hamburg or Antwerp.

If a so-called simple shipment isn’t possible, then the fire trucks are either loaded with a crane into the belly of „break bulk“ ships or onto container ships in so-called flat rack containers, which have no outer walls or roofs.

Dachser, a family-owned company headquartered in Kempten, Germany, counts among the leading logistics providers in Europe. With a staff of 21,650 employees in 37 countries at 347 locations all over the globe, in 2012, Dachser generated revenue of EUR 4.41 billion and handled 49.8 million shipments weighing a total of 37.46 million tonnes.
