APM Terminals acquires majority stake in eastern Black Sea port

APM Terminals has acquired an 80% share in Poti Sea Port on the Black Sea coast of Georgia.
 

Poti Sea Port is the largest port in the Republic of Georgia, with facilities for handling liquid and dry bulk, ro/ro and containers.

It has fifteen berths, with a total berth length of 2,900 metres and more than twenty quay cranes.

The port currently serves as the European gateway for international trade in Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, and is ideally located to become a future hub for Central Asia trade.

APM Terminals Poti will operate Poti Sea Port in a joint venture with Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (RAKIA) of the UAE. 

The company expects to investment US$100 million over the next five years to upgrade and expand the port facilities to meet APM Terminals‘ performance levels in productivity and safety.

APM Terminals operates more than 50 ports and 122 inland facilities in 64 countries.
