Dachser opens new logistics facility in Hörsching near Linz

In the presence of 170 guests from politics and business, Dachser’S CEO Bernhard Simon inaugurated the new facility at the Hörsching site near Linz at the beginning of the week. The warehousing and logistics facility has more than 10,000 m² area, providing space for 20,000 pallets.

“The new warehouse is another milestone in the expansion of our Austrian branch network. Its significance extends far beyond the national borders. As a logistic hub within Europe, Dachser Austria has long played a decisive role for the entire Dachser network,” said Bernhard Simon in his opening speech.

The new warehousing services enable Dachser Austria to meet the increased customer requirements. In this context, an expanded range of services will be offered to shippers.

The Hörsching logistics center was opened in 2008 and has an 8,000 m² goods-handling area, with a four-story office and administration building. The new warehouse was built as an extension to the existing goods-handling area. The investment in the new construction amounts to around EUR 10 million.

Günter Hirschbeck, Managing Director of Dachser Austria European Logistics said at the opening: “In our new warehouse, we are implementing logistics systems with tailor-made solutions for our customers. We are networking our two business segments, European Logistics and Air & Sea Logistics. At Dachser, we call this ‘interlocking’, and our customers benefit from lean, integrated processes. At the Hörsching location, we are closely linked to the region as a family business and create 30 new jobs at the warehouse.”

At Dachser in Austria, 479 employees at ten locations help to network goods flows, information and transport at any time. The cooperation of the ten sites ensures intelligent combination of logistic network competences. The business model involves transport logistics, warehousing and customer-specific services within the three business units Dachser European Logistics, Dachser Food Logistics and Dachser Air & Sea Logistics.
