Damco and GHC team up in Abu Dhabi

AP Moller-Maersk’s logistics unit, Damco, has formed a joint venture with General Holding Corporation (GHC) to provide logistics and forwarding services to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The goal of the new JV  –  Damco Abu Dhabi  –  is to create innovative solutions for industrial and FMCG businesses in the region to reduce customers‘ costs through improved supply chain efficiency.

GHC is the UAE’s largest industrial conglomerate and a prime mover in implementing the industrial diversification policy of the Abu Dhabi government.

The company plans to set up offices in the airport and other key locations, and an area has been earmarked for a substantial warehouse development.

Damco already has more than 280 offices in ninety countries and representation in 120 countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, the Middle East, Europe, North America and Latin America.

"The supply chain joint venture with Damco is a key element in supporting the Abu Dhabi Vision 2030 and the long-term sustainable growth of the emirate by providing a competitive link to suppliers overseas and new export markets globally," commented Engr. Suhail Mubarak Al-Ameri, director general of GHC.
