New facilities for Pacer and OWL

Pacer leases a new distribution centre in Carson, California; OWL opens a second office in Poland.

Pacer Distribution Services (PDS) has opened a 200,892 sq.ft facility in an eleven acre site within the Watson Industrial Centre in Carson, California.

The facility is located in the heart of the South Bay market close to major Los Angeles freeways, the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, LA International Airport and Long Beach Airport.

PDS has operated in the Southern California area for more than twenty years, providing services that include public and contract warehousing, transloading, cross-docking, consolidation and de-consolidation, local and regional trucking and harbour drayage.

Pacer’s other services include intermodal, trucking, import and export, and logistics management services.

In other news, Pacer subsidiary Ocean World Lines (OWL), the global NVOCC, has opened a new office in Szczecin, Poland to offer more coverage and service options in the expanding Eastern Europe region.

Through the Szczecin office, OWL will offer air, ocean, cargo management and customs clearance services.

Poland remains a strong European economy and a major investment is currently underway to upgrade the country’s rail and road infrastructures.

According to Cord Bruegge, OWL’s managing director for Europe, the new office is part of OWL’s continued expansion in Eastern Europe, a region in which increasing manufacturing has led to a shift in sourcing from Asia to Eastern European factories.

OWL already has an office in Gdynia, Poland, as well as offices in Hong Kong, Shanghai, Qingdao, Singapore, Tokyo, Atlanta, Charleston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cincinnati, Long Beach, Louisville, Miami, New Orleans, New York, Norfolk, San Francisco, Seattle, Ipswich, Berlin, Bremen and Hamburg.
