DB Schenker accompanies Austria’s Olympic committee to South Korea

As an official logistics partner, DB Schenker supports the Olympic Team Austria and is responsible for transporting the tons of building materials for the Austria House. In total, the logistics service provider will be delivering 20 containers to Pyeongchang. This year, in addition to the entire interior decoration, a fully functional ski gondola will also be transported from the Salzburg town of Saalbach to South Korea. Saalbach is the top partner of the Austria House at the Olympics.

In order to ensure that the Olympic Team Austria is well supplied, DB Schenker will also be transporting a special bakery overseas, along with food and around 7 tonnes of drinks. More than 5,000 pieces of pastry are baked fresh every day for the athletes, trainers, supervisors and visitors to the Austria House.

Austria’s Olympic committee (ÖOC) has been building on the know-how of the international forwarding company for many years. “Experience in worldwide transport favour a competent partner such as DB Schenker,” says Peter Mennel, ÖOC Secretary General.

“We are very proud of the long-standing partnership with the Austrian Olympic committee, because it proves that we can reliably fulfill the challenging logistics tasks of the ÖOC at every venue in the world,” Helmut Schweighofer, CEO of DB Schenker in Austria and Southeastern Europe, is delighted about the successful cooperation.
