DB Schenker expands its logistics area at the Linz Hörsching location

Markus Achleitner, Council of Economic Affairs of Upper Austria, and Gunter Kastler, Mayor of the Municipality of Hörsching, together with Alexander Winter, CEO DB Schenker in Austria and Southeastern Europe, and Thomas Ziegler, Managing Director of DB Schenker in Linz Hörsching, officially started the expansion of the site in Linz Hörsching on 15 May. With a new building of 6,000 m², the logistics area will grow to over 29,000 m², the forwarding company informs in a press release.

“Upper Austria is the leading export and industrial province. I am therefore delighted that we have DB Schenker, an experienced logistics expert, wo is responsive to the diverse requirements of our companies and enterprises. This will make an important contribution so that the economic region of Upper Austria can continue to maintain its high level of competitiveness,” said Markus Achleitner.

Alexander Winter added: “We also want to be a strong partner for the Upper Austrian economy in the future. The expansion of the site allows us to respond even better to the individual needs of our customers and to offer them even faster and more efficient solutions.”

The new hall includes a contract logistics area with state-of-the-art warehouse technology and shelf-storage as well as a comprehensive block storage area. In addition, eight further tail ramps will be created, including side loading and
unloading options with partial roofing.

The logistics hall meets state-of-the-art requirements for energy efficiency and environmental protection and is built with innovative dock ramp technology and a separate co-packing area of around 800 m². The extension of the siding ramp
is another point towards green logistics and the use of the railway as an environmentally friendly transport solution.
