DB Schenker forms automotive joint venture with Chinese partner

DB Schenker together with a local partner company invest EUR 20 million into a new automotive logistics facility in Shenyang, in the north-east of China

DB Schenker plans to establish a new logistics facility for the automotive industry in China. Therefore DB Schenker and its Chinese partner are driving the establishment of a joint venture to provider logistic services in Shenyang, in the north-east of China. The investment totals more than EUR 20 million.

“This joint venture is a major step in our strategy to expand our leading position in contract logistics also in China“, says Dr. Thomas C. Lieb, CEO Schenker AG.

They are planning to establish a 45,000 m² logistics facility for services such as spare parts distribution and supply of automotive production on site. Construction start is scheduled for 2015. The project is subject to the approval by the authority.

Shenyang is considered as a focal point for domestic and foreign investments and one of China’s big centres of the automotive industry. DB Schenker has been active in the market at this location since 2003. About 25 employees are providing the entire range of forwarding services there.
