DB Schenker Logistics builds new terminal at Klagenfurt airport

DB Schenker Logistics is investing approximately €10 million in a new, ultra-modern logistics terminal at the airport in Klagenfurt, Austria.

The aim is to use the new terminal to further expand its position in European land transport on the regional Carinthia market, and also in the long-term to secure its leading position in air and ocean freight.

The new freight forwarding facility is being constructed on a total area of 30,500 m2 that will consist of a 2,500 m2 transhipment hall, a logistics warehouse covering an area of 1,800 m2 and a 1,200 m2 office building.

The terminal will be located directly at Klagenfurt airport and will have its own rail siding, enabling DB Schenker to seamlessly integrate rail as a environmentally friendly transportation alternative into its customers‘ supply chain concepts.

The new terminal has become necessary as a result of the significant increases in volume during the last few years.

The facility is scheduled to go into operation as early as spring 2011.
