DB Schenker launched new Scandinavia-concept using Rostock and Sassnitz as hubs

DB Schenker will be adapting its Scandinavia traffic operations to the market situation in the course of this year. In a press release the enterprise announced the concentration of the German-Swedish rail traffic on the route Sassnitz (D)-Trelleborg (S). The new traffics in combined transport will pass the port of Rostock.

The ferry traffic with single wagon systems will be concentrated to the Port of Sassnitz in the future. Rostock will be expanded and used as a hub for combined transport in the riparian countries of the Baltic Sea. In addition to the Rostock-Vienna route started in the second half of the year 2008, DB Schenker plans to establish new traffics on the routes Rostock-Duisburg and Rostock-Leipzig.
