DB Schenker Rail transports Siemens bogies from Graz

Siemens forwards bogies from its plant in Graz with DB Schenker Rail to Hamburg

Siemens Group shifts more transportations to the railway. DB Schenker Rail has started to transport bogies that are manufactured in Graz from Passau to Hamburg by order of Siemens. From there the bogies are shipped to China, where they are installed into high speed trains for passenger traffic.

The transportations will presumably take until August 2011. During this period 1,440 bogies on 700 wagons will be dispatched in single wagon transport mode. The transportations have so far been handled by truck. By shifting them to the railway Siemens saves about 600 truck trips and improves hence its environmental balance.
