DB Schenker’s PowerRailer now also operated on the south-north corridor

DB Schenker Rail Logistics and Forwarding to operate its PowerRailer block trains also from Dragoman, Bulgaria, to Western Hungary on a regular basis

The long established block train product PowerRailer operated by DB Schenker Rail Logistics and Forwarding to Southeastern Europe is expanded in the form of a regular service on the south-north corridor. The south-north PowerRailer joins shipments from Bulgaria and the neighbouring countries in Dragoman into block trains at the border between Bulgaria and Serbia. From Dragoman the block trains to Western Hungary are operated two to three times per week. From there the shipments are forwarded by railway or truck to their destinations in Austria, Germany, Poland and other countries. The increasing export volumes from Southeastern Europe was the reason to establish the PowerRailer block trains also on the south-north corridor. There is an increasing number of cargo shipments from Bulgarian production sites to Western Europe.

As for traffic with Southeastern Europe DB Schenker manages the pre-carriage of single wagons, wagon groups or block trains to the respective junction points in Štúrovo at the border between Slovakia and Hungary, in Sopron at the border between Austria and Hungary, in Villach in the triangle between Austria/Italy/Slovenia, in Ljubljana, Slovenia and in Kiskunhalás in southern Hungary. From there more than 2,000 block trains per year directed by RLF and partners are operated to destinations in Southeastern Europe. There are schedules with fixed transport times, completed by additional services such as transport planning, transport control and the organisation of the wagons.
