DB SCHENKERsmartbox comes to Austria

More transparency in ocean freight with DB SCHENKERsmartbox

DB Schenker expands its range of innovative services to control consignments in international freight transport. Starting in autumn 2009 the DB SCHENKERsmartbox will also be available in Austria. The name represents a sattelite-based, real-time tracking of consignments combined with sensor-technology.

According to the enterprise DB SCHENKERsmartbox increases transparency of global transport chains and reduced logistics costs. The new solution transmits current GPS coordinates (GPS = Global Positioning System) as well as any deviations from the defined route, and more safety parameters such as temperature, shocks, if a door is unexpectedly opened by force or if there is light inside the container.

Our product is one of a kind in the market. It has proved its worth in practice and is used on all major trade lanes around the globe“, emphasises Christopher Regenhardt, Corporate Manager DB SCHENKERsmartbox, Schenker AG. “It’s just clients with sensitive products who are offered a new level of quality by this transport monitoring system”, adds Kurt Leidinger, CEO air – and ocean freight at Schenker & CO AG in Vienna.
