Deutsche Post DHL group remains on its growth path

Deutsche Post DHL registered a considerable increase in turnover in the first half of the year 2011 in the Global Forwarding, Freight division:

The division Global Forwarding, Freight was one of the growth drivers in the Deutsche Post DHL group in the first half of the year 2011. With sales revenues at the amount of EUR 7.32 billion, last year’s figure was exceeded by 8.8 per cent. Return on sales amounted to 2.5 per cent, as the enterprise announced yesterday. The European overland transport business (DHL Freight) generated a rise in turnover of 12.2 per cent to EUR 2 billion. Air freight volume has gained 3 per cent to 2.2 million tons in the first six months of this year. As for ocean freight volume remained stable with 1.33 million TEU.

The Express division shows a turnover of 5.7 billion in the reporting period (up 4.1 per cent) and an EBIT margin of 8 per cent. DHL Supply Chain posted sales revenues of EUR 6.46 billion (+up 1.8 per cent) with return on sales of 3 per cent.

Group revenue improved 3.5 per cent to EUR 25.7 billion. As a consequence of the considerable increase in volume and turnover, as well as the increased efficiency, the operating result rose 55.7 per cent to EUR 1.2 billion. Return on sales amounted to 4.6 per cent after 3.1 per cent in the first half of 2010.
