Double jubilee for bayernhafen Regensburg
Bavarian trimodal Danube port Regensburg expands its rail infrastructure The bayernhafen Regensburg took two jubilees at once to organise a three-days festival for port visitors last weekend. 100 years ago, in June 1910, the west port, known as Luitpoldhafen at that time, started operating. 50 years later it was followed by today’s east port, where oil products are handled. This port area is now operated by the Australian TanQuid company, which provides tank and distribution services with 55 storage tanks. In response to rising throughput volumes in the rail segment, the German Danube port expands its rail infrastructure, which ensures the connection to the public rail network. Before the end of this year the 5 tracks of the bayernhafen Regensburg, a company of bayernhafen Gruppe, will be equipped with electrical overhead cables on a total length of around 4 kilometres. Rail transportation amounts to 1.63 million tons, which is about 25 per cent of the total throughput volume in the port. Quelle: LogEastics |
