ODPR increases frequency on the north-south corridor

New ODPR direct services in container traffic between Hamburg and North Africa and the Iberian Peninsula

Hamburg-based short sea-shipping company Oldenburg-Portugiesische Dampfschiffs-Rhederei (OPDR) enhanced its offer by the end of July. With immediate effect new direct liner services between Northern Europe, North Africa and Southern Europe, respectively, are available. More precise, OPDR adds new direct services between the ports of Hamburg and Casablanca, as well as Lisbon and Hamburg to its CISS liner service. With the start of this month they launched also additional direct services between Morocco and the Iberian Peninsula, as well as between Portugal and Southern Spain (two weekly departures ex Andalusia). These route enhancements will lead to faster transit times and higher frequency.

"We are pleased to be able to offer our customers more routes to support their ongoing demand for short sea shipping solutions all over Europe and North Africa", says Dirk Wessels, Director Line Management at OPDR. The new direct link between Hamburg and Casablanca will enable OPDR – in connection with the OPDR CASA (Casablanca) Service – to provide up to two weekly sailings to Casablanca. OPDR will continue to operate the enhanced routes with two OPDR operated 700 TEU vessels on the PANG service and three 700 TEU vessels on the CISS service.
