Deutsche Post DHL sees bottom of economic recession

Deutsche Post DHL reported slightly positive EBIT in first three months of 2009

Despite the significant costs for restructuring the DHL Express business in the United States and the general difficult market environment the globally acting logistics service provider Deutsche Post DHL achieved a slightly positive EBIT in the first three months of 2009. However, it was only the Supply Chain-segment that registered an improved operating result, as Dr. Frank Appel, Chief Executive Officer, said in front of shareholders in Frankfurt.

In the first three months of 2009 the group registered a reinforced downward trend of volumes across all products and divisions compared with the last three months of 2008. However, the rate of decline has stabilized suggesting that overall flows are bottoming out, as the group says in a press release.
