DFDS Logistics buys UK businesses from STEF

DFDS Logistics has bought STEF Transport’s activities in Scotland and Newlyn, as part of a deal in which it has sold its activities in Boulogne to STEF.

The STEF sites at Bellshill, Aberdeen and Newlyn are temperature controlled and employ 32 people. They will be merged intoDFDS Logistics.

DFDS Logistics employs 60 people.It has 50,000 sq ft distribution centre at Larkhall which serves the Scottish salmon and seafood industries.

DFDS said the facilities in Bellshill and Larkhallwere very similar and combining the operations would create more efficient operations and new opportunities for developing services to meet future market requirements.

As part of the same transaction, DFDS Logistics has agreed to sell its Boulogne activities to STEF. It has entered into agreement with STEFwhich will provide provide services from Boulogne to continental Europe.DFDS Logistics will maintain a small office in Boulogne.

Eddie Green, executive vice president and head of DFDS Logistics, said: “The relationship with our customers will continue unchanged, but I am very pleased that we have been able to consolidate our services into a much stronger network.”
