DFDS takes control of ro-ro terminals at Port of Gothenburg

Takeover of Älvsborg RoRo AB strengthens strategic position of DFDS A/S in the Swedish Port of Gothenburg

 

With the acquisition of a company the Danish DFDS A/S consolidates its position as a partner for the handling of sea freights on behalf of Nordic industrials and transport companies. Through a joint venture with C.Ports S.A. (Luxemburg), the company has acquired 100 per cent of the shares of Älvsborg RoRo AB for a price of SEK 48 million. DFDS is holding 65 per cent of the share capital of the joint enterprise.

Älvsborg RoRo AB has entered into a 25 year concession agreement concerning the operation of the ro-ro port terminals Älvsborg and Arendal in Gothenburg. The two port terminal have seven ro-ro berths. The total terminal area is 463.000 square metres. „Regular customers“ of the port facilities are the shipping companies DFDS Seaways, Cobelfret and Transatlantic. The latter two companies provide regular shipping services to Stora Enso Logistics. Älvsborg RoRo AB has 320 employees and revenues for 2010 are expected to be SEK 450 million.
