DHL has said that disruption caused by the mutating Covid-19 virus, will affect some services, as Royal Mail suspends some international services after travel impact.

DHL said that due to restrictions across the globe after a mutation in the virus was spotted, it has decided to impose a “complete delivery stop” for its Post and Parcel unit.

The 3PL added that it had to return consignments with goods content and bulky goods to senders, as it does not have the storage capacity for them.

It said that the move may affect items posted over the weekend but that letters and postcards will not be affected “for the time being.”

Finally it said that its Express’ road traffic to and from the UK has been temporarily suspended.

Royal Mail has also faced disruption, as there has been a suspension of international services.

The company said that it has temporarily suspended all mail services to Europe, with the exception of the Republic of Ireland, and has advised to avoid sending parcels to multiple countries internationally.
