Following investments into two new service centers in Styria in 2014 and Klagenfurt in 2016, DHL Express (Austria) GmbH launches a new and the most extensive phase of modernising its Austrian network, starting with the new building at Linz-Hörsching Airport. Managing Director Ralf Schweighöfer, Investor Alois Meir (Meir Logistic Center GmbH) and Gerhard Kunesch, Managing Director of Flughafen Linz GesmbH, jointly celebrated the groundbreaking ceremony on 21 February.

The construction project of the express service provider covers a total invesmtent volume of EUR 25.5 million and culminates in joining the logistics units with 180 employees in Upper Austria. Completion is scheduled for April 2019.

Ralf Schweighöfer, Country Manager of DHL Express Austria, explains the decision for the location: “Joining the units at Linz Airport and the domestic hub at the Franzosenhausweg site opens up numerous synergies, and the highest quality benefits for our customers and the consignment handling in our network. As in Peggau and Klagenfurt, the building complex is perfectly tailored to our needs, fulfills the highest safety standards and enables us to efficiently handle the shipment volume of up to 10 million parcels per year, and save resources at the same time.”
