DHL Global Forwarding (Austria) launches new sea freight service

Stuffing centre of DHL Global Forwarding (Austria) offers special service for global FCL shipping of Austrian steel products

With a new service concept, DHL Global Forwarding (Austria) emphasises on its traditionally strong foothold in the steel industry. Curtainsider trucks collect the consignments at the production plants and warehouses of the clients and transport them to the stuffing centre at Ennshafen port, which was built for this purpose. This is where the containers are loaded and forwarded on the railway to the North German seaports Bremerhaven and Hamburg.

DHL Global Forwarding handles 36,000 TEU per year in the FCL segment and offers a varied LCL program. The enterprise is ranked among the top 6 provider of sea freight services in Austria.

Around 35 employees at the locations in Vienna, Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck and Graz attend to this business segment. The product portfolio was revised in the recent history of the company. New FCL service concepts enabled them to enter the market segment of saw mills and wood processing enterprises. “In this segment we are attending to several major shippers. In a second stage we also want to gain a foothold in the segment of small and medium sized exporters“, Managing Director Ronald Friedreich, MBA, explains the future plans.
