DPD Austria localises growing interest for sustainability

Customers of DPD Austria would accept additional costs of EUR 5.89 for sustainable parcels

Customers of DPD Austria want sustainable logistics solutions and trust in the awareness of enterprises. This is the result of a survey about sustainability Austria’s leading private parcel service has conducted. 55 per cent of the participants rated this issue as very important, particularly in a professional context; about 50 per cent also in private. The interviewees saw the biggest saving potential for CO2 emissions in optimising buildings (66 per cent), followed by process optimisation in the form of electronic bills (58 per cent) and fleet management (55 per cent).

The majority of customers interviewed by DPD Austria assumes that companies need to spend more on sustainability, but customers do not want to pay the same rate for a sustainable product. Interviewees would be willing to pay EUR 5.89 more on average for sustainable packages.

DPD Austria has practiced "green logistics" for a long time. To make packages "greener" they implemented projects around driver training, economic route design and CO2 efficient vehicles. The group-wide environmental charter in the name of "responsibility" is firmly established as an integral part of the strategy and ensures – according to the company management – continuous implementation in terms of sustainability.
