DPD Austria still counts on sustainability

DPD Austria parcel service company publishes its second report on corporate responsibility towards planet, people and community

DPD Austria, the Austrian parcel service company, has recently published its second report on sustainability. In its report the enterprise presents the positive results of its actions in the three segments planet, people and community.

In the frame of their corporate responsibility towards the planet, the company offers e.g. trainings for environmentally friendly driving to reduce fuel consumption by up to 12 per cent. In addition, the use of CNG vans run on natural gas instead of gasoline, allows reducing CO2-emissions by 20 to 25 per cent. Modern conveyor belts with a special sliding coat that reduces friction, reduce consumption of energy by more than 30 per cent.

The offer for their employees includes among other things support in areas as health, safety and individual career development. The Marco Polo programme is aimed to boost the exchange of experiences with colleagues of the pan-European DPD system.

On the social level the Austrian parcel service company makes a contribution to support e.g. the „Gruft” organisation for homeless people, or by the provision of logistical support to the Sterntalerhof children’s hospice. On an international level DPD supports e.g. the building of a higher secondary school in a remote Ethiopian area.

DPD Austria (Direct Parcel Distribution) based in Leopoldsdorf near Vienna is by their own account Austria’s leading private parcel service for national and international parcel distribution. In Austria the company has about 1,700 employees and a fleet of 900 vehicles. In 2013 they shipped more than 39 million parcels.
