DPD’s depot in Sachsenburg to start operation

Second location of DPD Austria in Carinthia shall handle 540,000 parcels this year:

In the middle of this week, DPD Austria (Direct Parcel Distribution), based in Leopoldsdorf near Vienna, started operating a new depot in Sachsenburg (district Spittal an der Drau). In addition to St. Veit an der Glan this is DPD’s second branch in Carinthia. The customers of the Austrian private parcel delivery service can thus expect faster parcel delivery in Upper Carinthia and eastern Tyrol, as Rainer Schwarz, Managing Director DPD Austria GmbH, emphasises in a press release.

In 2011 the new DPD Depot in Sachsenburg shall handle 540,000 parcels, with subsequent delivery in Upper Carinthia and eastern Tyrol. The parcels were previously handled at the location in St. Veit an der Glan. Opening the second depot in Carinthia, the enterprise responds to the increasing parcel volumes of the past years.

Including the depot in Sachsenburg, DPD has 14 branches and a main transhipment point in Linz/Hörsching in Austria. DPD employs around 1,500 persons across the country. In 2010  the transport fleet consisting of 900 vehicles moved 37.5 million parcels.
