DTC and Hellmann cooperate in Turkey transport

DTC and Hellmann: Utilisation of T1 documents makes traffic on the corridor between Germany and Turkey faster and increases efficiency

Deutsche Transport-Compagnie GmbH & Co. KG (DTC) and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics GmbH & Co. KG from Osnabrück are starting to cooperate in Turkey transport. The DTC location in Nuremberg will serve as a hub for the handling of industrial and retail goods. Up to 40 trucks will be operated between Nuremberg and Turkey per week.

"The Nuremberg location of DTC provides ideal infrastructure to operate our traffic between Germany and Turkey," says Ralf Greshake, route development manager for Turkey at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics. Another argument for the cooperation was the experience of DTC in business with Turkey: "We have been active for over twenty years in Turkey and know how the market works," explains Wolfgang Grimm, Vice President and Country Head for Turkey at DTC.

In Nuremberg several daily trucks start towards Turkey, which supply either the Hellmann logistics centers in Istanbul or Izmir. Goods issue registers about 20 truck departures per week (tractor-trailers and mega trailers). Last year 1,200 trips were operated to Turkey. "In addition to exports, import is also a key factor for us. We recorded a similar number of inbound cargo trucks per week. Tendency rising,“ says Wolfgang Grimm.

DTC uses several methods of customs clearance: The ATLAS system used to accelerate the import customs clearance in Germany. Since recently exports to Turkey can also be customs-cleared bilateral with a T1 document. This means a relief to Wolfgang Grimm: "Previously the customs clearance with the Carnet-TIR paper had been complicated and tedious. Now, we can work quickly and efficiently. "
