Emirates continues expansion to Africa

Emirates Airline adds another African destination to its global route network.

From 1 September 2010 the Dubai-based international airline will operate five weekly non-stop flights from its hub to Dakar. Senegal’s capital will be destination N° 104 within the route network. The new route is so far the only regular flight connection between the United Arab Emirates and Senegal.

Emirates Airline will deploy A340-300 Airbuses on the Dubai-Dakar route (v. v.). Providing 18 tons of air freight capacity per flight, the airline supports import and export business of the west African country; as e.g. the exportation of fresh fish, fruit or seasonal vegetables to Emirates’ destination in Europe and the Mediterranean region. This connection will also facilitate importation of textiles from Asia, electronic devices from East Asia and Europe as well as of textiles from India.
