Emirates SkyCargo advances e-freight in Vienna

First standard consignment handled by Emirates SkyCargo’s e-freight to leave Vienna shortly

After successfully implemented projects on 24 international routes, Emirates SkyCargo wants to use e-freight now also on the flights from Dubai to Vienna and return. They set up an initiative together with the airline umbrella organisation IATA and with Austrian Cargo to quickly introduce paperless documentation and handling of airway bills at the Vienna International Airport as Rene Patek, Cargo Manager Austria of the international airline headquartered in Dubai, confirmed on request. The simplifying and efficiency-increasing initiative for the air freight transport processes involves also the Vienna airport, representatives of international air freight forwarders and customs authorities.

Emirates SkyCargo operates daily regular services from Vienna to Dubai. The route is flown with a Boeing 777-300ER. Each flight has a carrying capacity for 23 tons of air freight. According to Mr. Patek there are good flight connections via Dubai available to destinations on the Indian subcontinent, in the Asia/Pacific region, in the Middle East and in South Africa. The aim of the airline is to transport the first e-freight standard consignments before the summer break.
