Gunther Jaegers was confirmed as BDB president

In the course of the committee meetings of the Bundesverband der Deutschen Binnenschiffahrt e.V. (Federal Association of German Inland Navigation) in Duisburg on 21 April 2010, Dr. Gunther Jaegers was confirmed unanimously in his function of the president of the BDB. The Managing Director of the Duisburg-based shipping company Jaegers GmbH will, as he already explained previous to the election, not be available for the full three years of the legislation period, but quit the function by the end of 2011. For the remaining time Georg Hötte, Managing Director of Rhenus PartnerShip GmbH & Co. KG (Duisburg), has expressed his willingness to stand as a candidate for the function of BDB president.

With effect from 21 April 2010 the group of the vice presidents is set up as follows: Robert Baack (Lehnkering Reederei GmbH, Duisburg), Karl-Heinz Bellmer (Imperial Reederei GmbH, Duisburg), Klaus Fuß (MSG eG, Würzburg), Georg Hötte (Rhenus PartnerShip GmbH & Co. KG, Duisburg), Dr. Dietmar Rehmann (Deutsche Binnenreederei AG, Berlin) and Hans Egon Schwarz (DTG Deutsche Transport-Genossenschaft Binnenschifffahrt eG, Duisburg).

At the day of the election the BDB has also held its annual general meeting at the headquarters of the river shipping associations, the “Haus Rhein“ in Duisburg-Ruhrort. In the frame of the elections of the board of directors Dr. Roland Pütz (Imperial Reederei GmbH, Duisburg) has joined the committee. In his report at the general meeting managing director Jens Schwanen discussed the current developments of transport and industry of 2009 and 2010 that are relevant to river shipping business. Moreover he explained the targets of the new federal government and the activities of the association. These can also be read in the 2009/2010 annual report of the BDB.
