Eurogate Bremerhaven wins new Far East service

“Loop C“ of the Grand Alliance shipping consortium calls weekly at Bremerhaven since this week

The Eurogate Container Terminal Bremerhaven operates a new regular service. With effect from 8 February 2011 Bremerhaven was included as a port of call in the “Loop C” of the Grand Alliance (Hapag Lloyd, NYK, OOCL) shipping consortium. On Tuesday the container ship “OOCL Seoul” therefore made her first call in Bremerhaven. The container vessel has a load capacity of 8,063 standard containers (TEU), is 323 metres long and 43 metres wide.

The “Loop C” is a weekly service. The Grand Alliance operates a total of ten 8,000-TEU ships on the “Loop C” rotation. Ports of call are Ningbo, Shanghai, Xiamen, Kaoshiung, Hong Kong, Shekou, Singapore, Port Klang, Rotterdam, Bremerhaven, Southampton, Singapore, Kaohsiung, Hong Kong, Shekou and Ningbo.

“We are proud the Grand Alliance has incorporated Bremerhaven into ‘Loop C’ as a port of call,” says Emanuel Schiffer, Chairman of the Eurogate Group Management. “Bremerhaven has an excellent nautical position and has the experience and the equipment to optimally handle the world’s biggest container vessels”.
